Brushing Up on 2018

As 2019 picks up steam, and we look ahead to our exciting plans for the new year, it can be easy to forget how far we’ve come in a year. We become so focussed on our mission to change the way people think about and look after their teeth, we don’t stop to acknowledge our achievements.

So, with today being our 1st birthday, we wanted to take some time to reflect on our amazing first year and give ourselves a shameless little pat on the back.

 

Out of the blocks 🏃🏼‍♂️💨

Just twelve months ago, we launched our crazy/wonderful idea of an eco-friendly oral care subscription service. Bringing healthy, beautiful smiles to people around the UK. Within four months we were listed as the #1 start-up to watch in Wales, and we were growing faster and faster as the weeks passed.


Spreading our reach 🌍🏆

Our partnership with Denplan, and winning the ‘New Product Launched of The Year’ at the 2018 Dental Industry Awards, opened a lot of exciting doors for us. Which led to discussions with a number of well-known corporates in the health space, with some of the most respected members of the dental industry sitting up and taking notice of our start-up. Our drive has always been to promote the importance of oral health, and having the opportunity to share this with families and individuals across Britain through these connections has been incredible.

Then, last month we were listed by Marketing Week as the 2nd fastest-rising Direct to Customer brand in the UK, following closely behind Dollar Shave Club, and ahead of well-established subscription brands such as Glossier, Harry’s, Huel, and Waldo.


 

Making a difference ♻️

With 3.6bn plastic toothbrushes ending up in landfill or our oceans each year, our bamboo brushes provide a great solution to meet the increasing need for sustainable plastic alternatives.

Our business is hugely driven by our desire to make a difference, and we’ve been fortunate enough to work with the Ronald McDonald House Charity and have donated 1,000 brushes to the families it supports. This is in addition to our ‘Buy 1, Give 1’ promise which has seen thousands of toothbrushes go to children in need in partnership with Dentaid.

A few days ago we launched our first crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube, giving you the chance to get involved with our growing business. We are already over 60% funded (at the time of writing) and are excited by the amount of people who really believe in what we are doing. What’s in store for 2019? 🤔

Watch this space – we’ve got lots of exciting things to share with you in the new year.

We’re incredibly excited that our Brushbox for Schools program, set up in 2018, is set to rocket its way into schools around Britain this year. The program shares the importance of oral care with little ones and their parents. Allowing teachers to get to the root of the problem and create a generation of bright, happy smiles. And with the help of Dentaid, the number of children we plan to help will increase ten-fold.

 

We want everyone to have a smile on their face when their Brushbox arrives. And we’re working on new, innovative designs for our products that will make sure 2019 doesn’t disappoint!

2018 was an absolutely fantastic year for Brushbox, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the support we’ve had in the past twelve months.
