Self Care Toolkit: World Mental Health Day

What does World Mental Health Day mean to you? We all know someone suffering, whether that’s a friend, family member, co-worker, or even ourselves.

Today we want to share the importance of self care, and why looking after our mental health is so important.

Mental Illness can be debilitating and make everyday chores seem like mountainous burdens, making tasks like brushing your teeth, or washing some dishes, almost impossible.

We’ve created a wonderful daily self care regime that puts a focus on allowing space to breathe and relax.

Walk for 20 minutes outside 🌳

Stepping outside without your phone can help ease stress, and the idea of feeling trapped. Take a walk and give yourself time to breathe.

Turn your phone off for 60 minutes ⏲️

Technology is incredible but being tethered to social media isn’t. Switch off and take a break from the pressure of social media.

Sit and breathe for 5 minutes 💨

It seems so simple, but sitting down and allowing yourself a few minutes to focus on your breathing helps relax you

Tidy something 🗑️

It can be as simple as making a bed, or washing a few mugs, but clearing clutter helps clear the mind

Complete your skincare and oral regime 🤗

It’s easy to forget to take care of yourself when your mind is working against you, but looking after your teeth and skin is not only calming, but it’s ensuring you’re looking after your physical health as well as your mental.

If you, or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues, there is an incredible range of options for getting help.
